Badreddin al-najjar, director of the center for disease control, said that the north-western region of Libya had many cases of ” leishmania” and that there were fears of an unusual increase in the number of cases.
He said in a telephone interview, through the Altasas satellite, followed by “Og”, that shipments of leishmania were delivered, and there is regular contact with Tawerghaa Hospital, if they need any assistance, whether providing them with treatment or doctors, or technical support.
Al-Najjar said This weekend a new shipment of leishmania will arrive, which will be enough for a while, explaining that the crisis lies in the control measures carried out through the municipalities, and calling on the tawerghaa municipal council to allocate a budget for combating the leishmania, and that they will be supported from a technical and technical point of view for an effective control program.
He continued that the Centers for Disease Control. had a program to control leishmania, and the center was responsible for fighting the disease in all areas where it was spread. He pointed out that in recent years, the financial resources have not allowed the center to implement the control program, in addition to the deterioration of the security situation. he explained that the municipalities should allocate part of their budget to fight leishmania.
The director of the Center for Disease Control, he will help the municipalities in the implementation of their programs, by providing all means of support, stressing that the circumstances experienced by Libya, one of the reasons for the cessation of the implementation of the program to combat Leishmania, especially since it does not have the budget required to implement the control program.
He concluded that the security factor is also an obstacle besides the lack of budget, indicating that the CDC has no ability to exit cars in the desert areas and implement the control program, especially as the disease is spread in all areas of northwest Libya, from the border of Tunisia to Sirte, except the city of Tripoli Just.
