Al-Ghuwail said in remarks to The Independent Arab on Thursday, read by “Og”, that the request came after the situation was complicated and the suffering of the Libyan people increased, as a result of the horrors of successive wars, He continued: “The government of accord does not bear the name of accord only.”
He concluded that the international community has become aware of the importance of this step, the interests of Western countries are threatened by the continued flow of illegal immigration and other security files, as he put it.
Counselor Aqeela Saleh, Speaker of the House of Representatives in Tobruk, addressed the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the head of the internationally-backed Accord government, Fayez Sarraj, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, demanding the withdrawal of international legitimacy from the Accord government.
Saleh said in his speech, which got the “Og” copy, that the first item of the memorandum of understanding included military cooperation and the second item demarcation of the maritime border between the State of Libya and the Republic of Turkey, considering it a threat to the Libyan state and its future and security.
He said that the signing of this agreement without ratification by the House of Representatives, aims to compromise the sovereignty of the Libyan state and its legitimate rights to invest in this region, stressing that the memorandum of understanding signed between the head of the Government of Accord and the Turkish President contrary to what was stated in the political agreement.
At the end of his speech, the Speaker of the House of Representatives called for a decision to withdraw his accreditation to the Accord government and the adoption of the only legitimate entity, the House of Representatives and its derivatives. Consequently, the Libyan State is in a solution and does not abide by them.
Fathi Pashaga, the interior minister of the internationally backed government of national accord, announced last Wednesday that Libya and Turkey signed a memorandum of understanding on security and maritime cooperation between the two countries in the presence of Erdogan and Sarraj, claiming that this memorandum concerns the fight against terrorism and illegal immigration and the exchange of information.

The Libyan parliament, on Thursday, described the agreement between the government of accord and the Turkish regime as a “high betrayal”, where the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee of the Parliament, in a statement, that “the Turkish regime is supportive of terrorist organizations and the agreement is a threat to the Libyan national security and Arab security and peace in the Mediterranean generally”.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry condemned the signing of Turkey’s memorandums of understanding with Fayez al-Sarraj, head of the Government of National Accord in Libya, for cooperation in the fields of security and maritime areas. usually the Convention is “without legal effect”.
It is noteworthy that the President of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord supported internationally, Fayez Sarraj, admitted receiving military support from Turkey during the battles in Tripoli, stressing that his government is in a state of defense of its legitimacy.
